SMART Enough for Your Own Good?

A common theme of SalesCocktail is discipline. Successful sales professionals are disciplined in their thinking, preparation, and approach to all sales opportunities. Setting SMART goals is a best practice of disciplined sales people.

SMART goals are:

Specific – target a specific area for improvement.
Measurable – quantify an indicator of progress.
Assignable – specify who will take responsibility for each action item.
Realistic – choose goals that can realistically be achieved, given available resources.
Time-related – specify when the result(s) can be achieved, and select goals that can be accomplished in the foreseeable future.

Drive results by creating a target. Measure your progress on a weekly basis and iterate as you learn. For additional reading on SMART goals, check out this quick read from Philippe Lanctot.

Speaking of SMART goals, two of ours for 2018 are to begin providing tools that complement specific blog topics and launch a monthly webinar series. Stay tuned for registration details regarding our first webinar, which will cover the topic of Executing on Inside Sales.
